HOW IT WORKS
"No one bests an Orc!"
-- Common Orc taunt
So, sometimes it's just downright satisfying to play the simple brute force Orc! Right? No hiding in the shadows from a fight. No overthinking the right choice of spells to best a specific foe. Just go berserk and charge in with blades or hammers swinging until the last puny weakling falls! "ART! Orc" is designed to keep gameplay just as satisfyingly simple, while at the same time greatly enhancing combat for the Orc player character. Unlike other mods in this series that add several new powers to each race, this mod simply enhances the existing power of Berserker Rage. The player may now go into a rage six times a day because letting your blood boil just once a day just isn't enough! The power also gives you special attacks based on your perks or character's level and the weapon equipped. The attacks are applied even if the player is using enchanted weapons. To get the special attack you want, simply activate Berserker Rage and choose the kind of weapon required. You can see the special attacks listed in your Active Effects menu after activating the power.
BERSERKER RAGE ENHANCEMENTS
Reusable Power: Instead of just once a day, they may now go berserk every 10 minutes (i.e., every four virtual game hours) or up to six times a game day.
Lasts Longer: The power now lasts twice as long.
Battleaxe and War Axe Berserk Attacks: While the power is active, attacks with one and two-handed axes have a chance to disarm them. Gives you the edge against bosses who wield weapons with powerful enchantments! (see "Perk and Level Requirements").
Bow and Crossbow Berserk Attacks: While the power is active, you can draw a bow or load a crossbow faster, and each successful hit staggers a foe. Great for taking down a charging target before she can get close enough to land a blow!
Greatsword and Sword Berserk Attacks: Duel-wielding is no longer the only way to swing weapons fast! When you go berserk, you can now swing a sword faster when using a shield, and two-handed swords swing faster, too. Useful for quickly dispatching a spell caster before he overpowers you with magic!
Mace and Warhammer Berserk Attacks: While in a rage, power attacks with these one and two-handed hammers have a chance to knock foes down or send them flying back! The chance as well as the distance the target flies back is based on your perks or your level (see "Perk and Level Requirements").
IMMERSIVE ABILITIES AND A NEW POWER
The mod gives you several passive abilities, which are always active and lore-friendly. You also get one additional lesser power.
Orc Blood Boil: Like Nords, Orcs have a resistance to cold weather in survival mode. Now you also have a 20% resistance to frost.
Orc Blood Skill: As an Orc, you have combat in your "blood". All combat skills increase 20% faster. It's similar to the Warrior Stone, so you can choose a different standing stone blessing and still get the bonus, or keep the Warrior Stone blessing, and level combat skills 40% faster!
Orc Grim Look: So, it never made sense to me that Intimidation is a level 70 Speech perk. I mean, scaring the Oblivion out of NPCs has more to do with how intimidating you look than how articulate you are! Right? The mod gives you a perk that greatly increases the chance of intimidating. Now you can successfully choose dialog options that are more in character with your race, like the response to the guard at the Riften gate, "You're a thief. I kill thieves!"
Orc Kinsman: Not only are you allowed through the Orc Stronghold gates, but you can now also enter the longhouses, sleep in the beds and take items without being asked to leave. Keys to the longhouses are also added to your inventory. Hey, let's just say they're treating you well to convincing you to stay!
Orc Metal Skill: Orcs are known for being the best blacksmiths in the Empire, and especially known for their skill at smithing Orcish and Ebony armor and weapons. Shouldn't your character be better than other races at smithing, too? Yeah, yeah! Now you can improve Orcish 30% more, Ebony 20% more and improve other armor and weapons 10% more.
Orc Strength: Orcs are stronger than other races. Doesn't it make sense you'd have some advantage over them? For sure! Now you have 30 more stamina, so you can do more power attacks. You also can carry 100 more than other races and worn armor doesn't weigh anything. This gives you the same benefits as the Steed Stone, so if you get its blessing, too, you can carry 200 more!
Predator's Sense Power: OK, this one isn't exactly Elder Scrolls lore-friendly, but it's a Lord of the Rings thing. You have the nose of a predator to smell nearby living and undead once every 2 minutes. It works like a detect life spell with half the range, but doesn't cost magicka. It detects undead - except ghosts - because rotting corpses stink!
PERK AND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS
The percent chance to successfully use some of the special weapon attacks is increased when the player either acquires a specific perk or reaches a certain level. If you haven't reached the level, you can still increase the chance by achieving the perk. If you don't have the perk or you're using a mod like Ordinator, you can still increase the percent chance by leveling up.

TRYING OUT THE MOD
If you want to test that the mod is working, you may do so if your character is below level 5 and doesn't have an Armsman or Barbarian perk. Under these conditions, the chance is 80% to disarm with a battleaxe or war axe, and the chance is 80% to knock back with a mace or war hammer. This gives you an opportunity to see how the mod works with a higher-level character. After your character reaches level 5 or adds the first Armsman or Barbarian perk, the chance drops to 10%. As you level up or add Armsman and Barbarian perks, the percent chance to do the special attacks increases (see "Perk and Level Requirements" below).
At any level, each of the new abilities will show in the Active Effects menu, as will the Orc Hunter and Berserker Rage when these powers are active. The special weapon attacks will also be displayed in Active Effects while the Berserker Rage power is active, with a description of the effects for each one.
COMPATIBILITY WITH ORDINATOR AND OTHER MODS
The mod is compatible with Ordinator and other mods that replace perks in the game. You don't have to have the Armsman or Barbarian perks to increase the chance to do a special attack, if you've reached the required level (see "Perk and Level Requirements"). The mod doesn't change the Orc and Orc Vampire races or the Player Character, so it should be compatible with mods that change these. It changes the Berserker Rage power, so it should be loaded after mods that change it.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
The mod was tested with saves made for an Orc character of various levels, to ensure that the abilities and powers worked as indicated in this description. However, it's possible some small glitch was not detected. If you notice any feature that doesn't appear to be working as expected, please post a comment to let us know, so we may fix it (see, "Please Rate, Ask Questions, or Make Suggestions" above).
SUPPORT FOR THE VICTIMS OF UKRAINE
100% of the DP points for all of our mods go to support the Ukrainian families who are victims of Russia's war against their country. Many thanks to Nexus for providing this opportunity to assist them.
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
Did you know we spend more time playing the game without mods than we do making them? We do this to help ensure each mod works as expected, and glitches are fixed before they're released. But no one is perfect! If you think you've found a glitch, please let us know.
